Nestled between the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges near Golden, Kicking Horse is proud of its rep as the ‘Champagne Powder Capital of Canada’.
And rightly so. You get a huge 1,260m of vertical (the fourth highest in North America) and more than 2,800 acres of skiable terrain that caters to all ability levels, with everything from steep alpine chutes to wide open cruising green runs.
The eight-passenger, high-speed Golden Eagle Express Gondola, plus two quad chairlifts, a two-person chairlift and a Magic Carpet surface lift service an astonishing 121 runs, four alpine bowls and 85 inbound chutes.
Plus, you get a tube park, skating rink, and numerous restaurants, retailers and activities. The resort is great for families, too - beginner slopes are handily centred on the main plaza with a Magic Carpet lift.
Accommodation ranges from affordable to luxurious. Ski-in/ski-out lodging includes boutique hotels and condo lodges while town homes and resort estate homes provide all the comforts of home for longer stays.
Kicking Horse offers daily transfers to and from Calgary International Airport, Banff and Lake Louise.

• Whitewall. At the top of the Stairway to Heaven chair, it boasts some of the steepest terrain that leads into Feuz Bowl. Choose from four classic spines, big drops and steep chutes.
• The après-ski at Peaks Grill. Hearty post-skiing homemade meals washed down with ice cold beer on the patio or in the lounge. Plus, there’s live music, extreme winter sports videos (and Golden’s best-looking staff!)
