Make a difference - A national charity is calling for volunteers to accompany groups of visually impaired people on skiing holidays this winter. You have to be a confident and experienced skier and the charity will provide training and support for the volunteers.
Vitalise specialises in a wide variety of volunteer-supported holidays for the visually impaired, from cycling to canoeing trips – it has been organising ski trips for ten years.
A spokesman said: ‘We need keen skiers who want to have a holiday with a real difference and share their passion for the sport with visually impaired people. You don’t have to be an instructor – enthusiasm and character are far more important.’
There are three upcoming destinations in 2010: cross-country skiing in Kandersteg, Switzerland, 23–30 January; downhill skiing in Niederau, Austria, 27 February – 6 March, and cross-country Skiing in Geilo, Norway, 14 – 21 March.
The charity subsidises the trips for the volunteers.
