To celebrate there'll be a variety of activities and special events throughout the winter season and anyone turning 20 during their stay in the resort can ski free on that day.
La Tania, one of the smallest resorts in the world's biggest ski area, The 3 Valleys, neighbour to Courchevel and one of the world's newest ski resorts turns 20 this year.
La Tania was conceived next to a hamlet halfway between Méribel and Courchevel, called La Tagna, which meant "the bear's dwelling", a reference to the bears that lived in the Tarentaise forest until the beginning of the 20th century. They suddenly disappeared in the 1930's, no doubt hunted down by the mountain folk through fear.
Near this little hamlet, on a beautiful day in 1990 (December 22nd), the new ski resort opened, then un-named but soon to be baptised La Tania. A year later the resort welcomed the athletes and journalists of Albertville Winter Olympics.
Jacques Labro, an architect of renowned talent (Silver medal-ist in 1968 for the resort of Avoriaz) and his team worked hard to preserve this beautiful location by using perfectly integrated constructions, wood and traditional materials wherever possible.
To get your one day ski pass for the Courchevel Valley you should go to the La Tania bubble lift with proof of your date of birth.
