Climbing, skiing and mountain sports equipment and apparel brand Black Diamond introduces a new online film series dedicated to sharing stories from the soul of climbing and backcountry skiing.

The first season of BDTV will go beyond perfect powder turns and big mountain faces to profile the ski mountaineers, avalanche forecasters and hometown heroes for whom skiing is a way of life.

Whether it’s an outdoor shop owner’s quest to find balance in his life, what it means to be a responsible backcountry skier, or the La Grave cablecar as an icon of modern big mountain freeskiing, each episode asks questions, provides value and celebrates the characters’ lives behind the lines they ski.

“…. we set out to find people whose stories go to the heart of what it means to be a backcountry skier,” explains Alex Hamlin, creative director at Black Diamond Equipment. “Whether you ski 100 days a season or just enjoy a good story, BDTV’s first season will take you deep into the stories of the characters behind the lines.”

Featuring award-winning cinematography, each film is accompanied by images from photographer Mattias Fredriksson. “Most times when it comes to skiing and other action sports, the action generally takes over,” Fredriksson says, “but with BDTV, the story is first.”

Following the online premier of episode one on 28th September, the BDTV film tour will kick off at retail locations around North America and Europe.
