It’s dumping in Bulgaria, while Japan keeps topping the snow charts.

Pamporovo, Bulgaria, is in the middle of a snow storm, set to leave 60 plus cm on its upper slopes between now and Monday night. Bankso is getting a good snowfall too, with 30 plus cm forecast.

Across the Alps, temperatures are set to drop after warm weather saw some light rain in many resorts this week. The rain has hindered snow making on the lower slopes, seeing some resorts contemplate delaying their openings.

It’s not all bad news in the Alps, as the Italian resort of La Thuile has snow forecast for all day Saturday, as has Chamonix and Val d’Isere. Good skiing can also be had on all glacier resorts, such as Les Deux Alpes and Tignes.

The Japanese resort of Happo One is expecting over 70 cm for fresh powder to fall this weekend and into next week, topping up the already excellent base. Nozawa Onsen, in Nagano Prefecture,  is set to receive an incredible 80cm plus by the end of next week.

North America's east coast still has some excellent skiing after the crazy snowfall of the last two weeks. Temperatures are set to drop again, and a further light dusting predicted for next week.

Out west, the Rockies have seen clear skies all week, accompanied by freezing temperatures, but no new snow.  This is set to change in the coastal range, with Whistler, BC, and Mt Bachelor, Washington State, set to get a good top up over the weekend.

Generally it’s a slow start in Europe, but keep those fingers crossed, as it’s still early days.
