Vail Village Oct 26Winter has returned in Colorado with Vail reporting five inches (13cm) of new snow last night. With more snow ahead, and some resorts opening next week, it's a promising start to the season in the American Rockies.
The Colorado resorts of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone had an early season surprise last night when the storm that had brought significant snow falls to some Californian resorts earlier in the week, delievered up to a foot-and-a half of powder.

A Winter Storm Advisory was in place in the area and was expected to last into the weekend as more snow was forecast.

Keystone opens next week, on November 2nd, with Breckenridge on November 9th and Vail six days later on the 16th. Beaver Creek is the last of the Vail Resorts to open on November 21st.
