Norrona Lofoten Warm1 Jacket
The Lofoten Warm1 jacket utilises polyester material made from recycled soda bottles, so certainly ticks the green box. And at 200 grams per square metre, the levels of warmth are impressive for the weight.
The fit has some part to play in the effective insulation, and some may find the high, close fitting neck a little claustrophobic. For a slim built athlete like our reviewer the fit was perfect and the fleece barely added any bulk over a winter-weight baselayer.
The Warm1 has a great range of pockets, both chest-mounted and hand warmer varieties, the latter being useful when paired with the Lofoten Gore Tex Pro jacket which doesn't have hand warmers, but you can access the fleece pockets through the shell's underarm venting. They also make the fleece more practical for wearing off the hill. Wrist gaiters are also a welcome touch, particularly as they are unintrusive when not in use.
The major downside to this jacket is the price; fleece in general has exploded in price in recent years, and despite the great design, this one doesn't quite justify its place at the top end of the price spectrum.
