Skins claim that their new DNamic range 'helps you to perform better for longer and recover faster'. They certainly feel like slick technical garments when you first get your hands on them but that's a bold claim so how well do they perform on the slopes?

Any claim like this is naturally approached with a certain amount of scepticism, mainly due to us being grumpy old men and having put countless bold claims to the test in the past, often finding that they provide little to no real world gains.

We were, however pleasantly surprised by the Skins garments as they certainly feel like they work as intended.

The science behind the DNamic tights is based on 'Dynamic Gradient Compression' which is claimed to increase oxygen delivery to active muscles while in motion and reduce lactic-acid build-up for more power and less recovery time.

In use they feel taught but still allow for freedom of movement with plenty of articulation around all of the major joints. They feel very supportive without feeling claustrophobic, very much like a second skin which holds everything in place allowing you to ski with more confidence, especially if, like this tester you have an old injury which would normally affect your performance.

When used in conjunction with Skins RY400 recovery tights (also on test) next day muscle pain is vastly reduced after a very familiar and repeatable workout.

They're neither warm nor cold to wear so they aren't a replacement for a classic base layer but as an underwear layer for activities where performance is key we highly recommend them.
