The Haglofs Couloir III is a bombproof Gore-tex shell that has been designed with typical Scandinavian efficiency and minimalism to provide keen backcountry riders with all the features they need and no superfluous bits and pieces. And of course, being of Scando origin means it also looks great.

So, from the top you get a helmet compatible hood that can be adjusted with one hand and has a wired peak, below which is a lovely high, microfleece lined stand-alone collar.

The two large zipped outer pockets are backpack compatible and large enough to hold your goggles with ease, and there are pit zips, naturellement…

You also get a lift pass pocket on the left sleeve, and an internal mesh zipped pocket with a cable port.

The powder skirt is detachable and has belt loop attachments, and you can seal yourself in with a one-handed cord adjustment on the hem and Velcro adjustable cuffs.

The overall cut of the Couloir III is very generous – you’ll have no problem layering up beneath it – and with two way stretch fabric this is one comfortable jacket.

It’s also really well built and should handle hard use with ease, so whilst not cheap you can expect to get many seasons of use in return for your hard earned.
