We love its considered simplicity, design, comfort, lightness and functionality.
The interior skin pocket is a little narrow for splitboard skins and the powder skirt may not last as long as the rest of the jacket.

A new recycled nylon face fabric combined with GORE-TEX is the update for this winter's PowSlayer and it's a significant improvement for this legendary freeride jacket. Redesigned for increased longevity, performance, protection and a reduced environmental impact, the non-insulated PowSlayer shell is better than ever.

Designed for serious mountain missions, boot packing and touring in all conditions and seasons, the PowSlayer is no place to play if you prefer being wrapped up in a traditional puffy ski jacket. But if you understand the concept of layering for the conditions and appreciate quality manufacturing and refined simplicity, then welcome to the PowSlayer party.

Climbers and mountaineers have been embracing the concept of layering for warmth and changing conditions for years and big mountain skiers are increasingly following suit. The hardshell PowSlayer is the pinnacle of this movement at Patagonia HQ, combining the great performance of the new GORE-TEX 3 layer (it has no liner) with Patagonia's on-going commitment to reducing waste and the environmental impact of their materials and manufacturing process. If you value the environment you play in and view yourself as an outdoor steward then Patagonia and the PowSlayer are built for you.

Yes all this comes at a financial cost, but the alternatives simply do not match the PowSlayer for simplicity, authenticity and credibility.

With 4 main pockets, 2 chest, 2 hand and a clever media pocket which can be accessed from inside and out, a goggle/skins pocket and helmet compatible hood, great performing waterproof zips, a snow skirt and pit zips for the warmer hikes, the PowSlayer truly is the only big mountain freeski/touring jacket you will ever need.
