Yes Snowboards made quite a splash when they launched a few years back. Formed by a band of renegade pro snowboarders who wanted to do it their way, they have quickly established themselves as a hot Niche brand snapping at the heels of the big boys. The Emoticon got top marks on test as one of the best all-rounders in the category.

The Emoticon is a new all-mountain snowboard by Yes designed to handle everything. It certainly felt quick edge-to-edge, and stayed solid riding through choppy terrain. The Emoticon just felt really confident - totally happy charging about the place and handled the slush surprisingly well.

We took the Emoticon out in a mixed bag of conditions up on a glacier in Austria, and in powder snow its shape worked really well to keep the nose up and out of the snow.

The Emoticon would be the ideal board for riders looking to graduate from their first set up. It's got enough performance to keep up with your progression yet it's forgiving enough that it won't catch you out when you're pushing your limits.

Whether it's riding freshly groomed runs, forays into powder or even trying out new tricks, the Emoticon is more than up to the job.
