The Camox from Black Crows is really an all mountain ski with a heavy biased towards the freerider - someone who seeks out terrain away from the marked runs.

Despite the fact it's aimed at terrain that's normally the preserve of expert skiers, they are highly accessible and would happily help out a recreational skier who likes to cruise about on-piste, but has decided to embark on an all mountain journey to break away from the groomed stuff.

Considering their width, they handle very well on-piste, with an excellent edge hold - they prefer longer radius turns to shorter ones though and at higher speeds, there's a tendency for a little tip flapping.

But get them in the powder and they float you away like a guru on a cloud - they are easy to turn and feel light and responsive.

It's not only powder where they shine. They enjoy the type of chopped up snow you often find off the sides of the piste and handle moguls well too.

The wood core construction and rockered tip ensures strength and easy turn initiation and the 98mm width under foot means they support you very nicely in deep or cruddy snow.

More an off-piste machine than anything else, but one that would be very useful for a skier looking for an easy ride and a ski that will help improve off-piste skiing from the start onwards - it will also carry you home very effectively on the groomed stuff at the end of the day too.
