The Konic 78Ti is one of K2's offerings into the increasingly packed and competitive all mountain category, adding a bit more beef to the lower specked Konic 76.
The core technology used in the ski is designed to redistribute weight to the perimeter, thereby providing power, strength and stability directly over the edge for performance.
A laminate construction of alternating layers of titanal and fibreglass sits above and below that core, all held together by K2's own blend of sidewall and cap construction it calls Hybritech.
The American company first developed this on its snowboards and it is something of a master in using this blend of construction styles.
The stronger, more durable and grippier sidewall construction runs almost the entire length of the ski or board, then tapers to a cap to boost manoeuvrability in turns.
A radius of 15.5m at 170cm (the Konic 78Ti also comes in 156, 163 and 177 lengths) attests to that nimble feel, while still maintaining decent hold and good stiffness on piste. A Marker K2 / M3 10 binding is included in the £440 rack price.
The ski does need to be worked away from the groomed stuff though and we would suggest that the Konic 78Ti is much more a frontside charger that can be taken further afield if required, so consider the fatter Ikonic 80 and 85 if you're looking to ski further afield.
