The easy feel and responsive turns
The name is a little daft but then at least they live up to it

K2 has introduced new skis into the Charger range that satisfies the needs of expert skiers who enjoy slalom style turns on groomed slopes. First impressions are positive as you zip straight into snappy, quick and responsive turns. We instantly get the Turbocharger tag - these things really do feel like the ski equivalent of the Porsche 911.

Perhaps even better is the fact they feel so easy to turn, there's no real effort at the initiation stage and then as you plug in the edges there's that instant lock in and then, snap, the re-bound into the next turn. A good intermediate skier might enjoy the fact they feel reliable, smooth and relatively effortless in the turn, but an expert with strong technical skills will get the most out of them.

These are pure on piste performance skis for those days on groomed slopes, although when you get them into the moguls for a play, they perform with distinction - perhaps a little stiff but so quick and playful. Whilst they enjoy longer radius turns and feel perfectly comfortable sweeping across a steep red run and high speeds, it's the fall-line that really appeals and they constantly want to make that new turn towards the valley. This isn't a bad thing and it provides an exceptionally enjoyable ride.

If you're a skilful, dynamic skier who knows how to edge a ski and play in the fall-line then the Turbocharger should certainly be on the top of the list for this winter - our piste skis of the year and top marks across the board.
