Salomon's X-Pro Ti is a really great value recreational piste ski - we thoroughly enjoyed our test rides on it in Kuhtai.

Keen recreational skiers are invariably faced with the dilemma of whether to shell out on their own skis or rent a pair on their annual ski trip - the advantage of your own skis is that you're familiar with them (and it is quite nice to actually own your skis too) but buying them is quite a sum of money to shell out on something you may only use for six days a year.

However, the excellent value Salomon X-Pro Ti pretty much solves that problem, and not only is this ski and binding set up a real steal, it also performs admirably.

They are light, mainly due to the synthetic core construction - although the layer of titanium does reinforce their strength, and this helps the overall performance.

One of the most striking characteristics if the very acceptable edge hold, making them lots of fun in both short and long radius turns and at low and high speeds. Although they can feel a bit juddery in very hard, tight turns, they are nimble and responsive and easy to manoeuvre.

The X-Pro Ti works very, very well for the intermediate level skiers it's aimed at but more demanding skiers will probably enjoy it too, and if piste skiing is your thing and you want your own skis without it costing an arm and a leg you can't go far wrong with these little beauties.
