SKI AREA Although mostly based on the slopes of the Eiger, Wengen’s ski area – lift- linked and shared with Grindelwald – is great for intermediates. On-piste challenges include the black runs from Eigergletscher to Wixi and, of course, the fearsome Lauberhorn. LIFT SYSTEM Car-free Wengen is reached from Lauterbrunnen via the Wengernalp railway. The railway serves Kleine Scheidegg and there is also a cable car up to Männlichen. OFF-PISTE Around the foot of the Eigerwand is a beautiful run, the White Hare. APRES-SKI When your day is done, make a beeline for Mary’s Café, a cosy café at the end of the slopes close to Wengen. WINTER FUN Wengen is ideal for the train up to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. Some 50km of winter walks and toboggan runs keep families happy too. LIFT SYSTEM Mürren is reached by cable from Stechelberg or from Lauterbrunnen and a network of 13 lifts ferry skiers around the slopes. OFF-PISTE Mürren offers demanding off-piste into the Blumental including Blumliloke off Schiltgrat. There are also big descents off the back of the Schilthorn. APRES-SKI Delightful, with most hotels offering traditional stübli bars. WINTER FUN It’s hard to resist the 007 exhibition on the top of the Schilthorn, plus the adrenalin-surging views on the Thrill Walk. Kids enjoy the toboggan run from Allmendhubel. i n t e r m e d i a t e 4 0 % e x . 25% BESTFOR RESORTCHARM 7 ASMALL,CAR-FREEVILLAGE, MÜRRENISJUSTADORABLE i n t e r m e d i a t e 4 0 % e x . 20% BESTFOR SPECTACULAR SCENERY e a s y 4 0 % e a s y 3 5 % 7
