Burton are always on the forefront of new concepts, which other brands then go and copy. Some work, some don't. The Nugget sits in the first category as one of those genre-defining boards that challenge people's notion of what a snowboard should be. We know this much: On a powder day, this is normally the first board out on test.

The Burton Nugget is a genre-defining snowboard designed for amplifying the fun factor tenfold. You need to keep an open mind before you ride this board, as the length tends to fox people. When we first saw it we were a bit concerned about it, but then we were blown away once we'd worked it out and completed a few runs.

We had the good fortune to test it out in powder and the feedback was just astounding. Despite its length, or rather lack of it, the Nugget makes powder riding effortless. Even at slower speeds it's easy to control this board in powder, making it very confidence boosting.

The Nugget would suit someone looking for a pure, out-and-out fun board to ride and would also make a great choice as a second board for when it's time to party.

The only drawback is that it's not for advanced riders who like to charge it.
