The Fischer Progressor 800 Powerail's unexciting graphics failed to excite us that much on test although it did ski better than it looked.

If you like to carve long and short radius turns with equal alacrity you may well like the Progressor, although we did find it a little juddery on occasion at high speed.

It offered smoothness and a lively performance in equal measure, although nothing to compare with the Salomon X Race or the Volk V-Werks. But then those are considerably more expensive skis.

So, if you like to go fast - but not excessively fast - don't require absolutely five-star performance and don't mind the boring top sheet, the Progressor may be for you. And it is pretty reasonable value...
