Nitro's first entry into the Boa market - the Club Boa are designed primarily for all mountain riders and thus need to appeal to, and be capable of carving, buttering, sending it off massive kickers and walking to be worthy of that label.
And frankly Nitro have nailed it with a boot that's compliant but responsive, precise but playful and lightweight but durable.
We absolutely love the dual Boa system which locks even our skinny minnie feet and ankles into the boot with minimal heel lift but still with plenty of comfort from the excellent heat mouldable Cloud 5 liner.
But not all Dual Boa's are created equal, there are actually a range of different options available depending on boot. The Club Boa uses the Dual Zone system, wherein the lower Boa locks in the forefoot for greater response and control and the upper Boa locks in the upper zone around the tongue, allowing you to really tweak your fit. And there's more because a third lacing system - Nitro's Re/Lace liner locker system extends from about the flex point of the forefoot up to the top of the tongue, locking the liner in using a simple friction stay. This can easily be re-tightened on the fly by yanking up on it, but in our experience it very rarely loosens off no matter how much you style it over the kickers.
Overall flex is just above middle and mesh areas allow the boots to move and flex with the natural movements of your foot without creating any uncomfortable pressure points. The same goes for the moulded spine - the area up the back of the boot - which is designed to reduce pressure points and increase durability.
Rubber impact panels add to that durability, these are placed at the heel and forefoot of the bouncy EVA outsole and add grip for walking as well as more robust cushioning for hard landings.
Nitro are known for great fit, but they've dragged their heels when it comes to introducing Boa, they've sure taken their time, but they've executed accordingly and made some of the best all mountain snowboard boots out there.
