Tuesday, 21 February 2012 20:00
Skiers and snowboarders may both enjoy riding on snow but that’s where the similarities end, according to a new study published by the American Journal of Sports Medicine.
Researchers set out to find whether the two activities led to similar injuries, and whether the introduction of terrain parks has led to an increase in injuries compared with standard slopes.

Monday, 20 February 2012 13:12
A coach full of British schoolchildren and teachers returning from a half term ski trip to the Aosta Valley in Italy has crashed in northern France in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing a teacher and seriously injuring four others.
Peter Rippington, 59, was killed when the coach veered off the A26 motorway near Chalons-en-Champagne before hitting a motorway safety barrier and rolling into a ditch, coming to rest on its side on the embankment.
Snow report: It's bitterly cold but conditions are good!
Monday, 13 February 2012 17:11
It’s been a chilly, nay bitter, start to the half term holidays as temperatures reached ridiculously low levels across the Alps over the weekend. And the mercury looks set to stick around -15ºC for the next few days, occasionally reaching -20ºC. Great temperatures for keeping the snow in good knick and mountain restaurants in a roaring trade in hot chocolates and vin chauds. Thankfully, there isn’t much wind forecast to worsen those below freezing temperatures.
