Unique experiences

The joys of the Ski amadé, both on and off the pistes are many and varied. Just in the extensive Schladming-Dachstein area you'll find 230km of slopes, 84 lifts, 100 mountain huts and six funslopes, as well as unmissable activities such as ski yoga and fatbike tours. And let's not forget the opportunity to watch one of the highlights of the professional calendar, the men's FIS night slalom on the Planai in Schladming. World-class skiers, a fantastic location and an atmosphere like no other - what more could you want?

Further afield, find everything from back country off-piste tours in the Salzburger Sportwelt, to ‘Enjoyment-Ski-Routes’ throughout the region that show off the best culinary hospitality of the entire Ski amadé ski area, breakfast at the highest peak or in a valley-spanning gondola. From ice skating to horse-drawn sleigh rides, trails for winter hikers and a host of adventurous mountain sports await in the Ski amadé.

Maybe you’d prefer the several challenging World Cup downhill slopes of the Salzburger Sportwelt or, just for fun, one of the longest downhill runs in the Eastern Alps, 10.4 km in one go from the highest point in the ski area down to the valley.

And then there are the thermal baths of Gastein, winter walks, snowshoe hikes on the Hochkönig, piste-basher rides, ‘backstage’ tours and, not for the nervous, a dizzying 140m suspension bridge. The 140m-long footbridge on the Stubnerkogel in Bad Gastein simultaneously breaks two records: it is the first suspension bridge at 2,300m, and it can be walked across all year round. You definitely need a head for heights if you decide to step out onto this swaying structure, since the sides and floor are both transparent!

Get on the ski circuit

Mile-hungry skiers and snowboarders will relish the challenge of the Königstour in the Hochkönig ski area, a ski circuit to rival the Sella Ronda or the White Ring. What you get here is superb: six peaks, 35 continuous kilometres of slopes and 7,500 metres of difference in altitude. In every area you will find a fantastic alpine panorama with views of the Hochkönig and the Steinerne Meer under a pristine blanket of snow, and don't miss out on the delicious regional dishes at the various mountain huts en route.

And for the ultimate long-distance challenge, there's the 12 Peaks Trophy - skiing from A - Z over 12 peaks and 5 valleys in the Salzburger Sportwelt - an extraordinary skiing experience that has been created in the heart of Ski amadé. This new ski circuit in the province of Salzburg is the result of the new ski connection from Snow Space Salzburg to the Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl and the World Cup resort of Zauchensee. The route takes you over the 12 most beautiful peaks of the ski region and is an exciting, sporting experience for all skiers. If you want to master them in one day, it is indeed possible - but you have to be really fast!

Plus, if you want to follow in the ski tracks of the greats and feel the rush of a downhill race, take on the Race track Galsterberg - the longest permanent race track in the famous Schladming-Dachstein region. Strive to beat your personal best, race against your friends or try to master the slalom technique on specially prepared snow and live your World Cup dreams. You can even reserve the track for private events!
