Colourful, well designed and with real mountain heritage, Norwegian company Kari Traa are breathing new life into the women's outdoor apparel sector. We're really glad they're here and were super keen to include the Rose baselayer collection in our winter 17/18 reviews.

"For girls, by girls". Who's to argue when the product looks and performs as well as this?
Born in Sandinavia, made in China. If only the Rose baselayers were actually made in Norway, we'd be 100% in love.

Kari Traa is both a brand and a person. Ex Olympic Norwegian skier, Kari Traa recognized the need for stylish and high performance active wear for sporty women so she made it happen back in 2006. Instantly recognizable, Kari Traa's distinctive apparel is rapidly becoming the staple for informed outdoor females the world over. The iconic Rose baselayer collection lies at the very heart of this game-changing brand.

We tested the Rose pants and long sleeve zip neck top and fell immediately in love with the design. For so long baselayers have been boring but functional affairs. Black, black and more black with the occasional 'daring' foray into pink or turquoise for girls. That's all over now that Kari Traa have come to town - thankfully.

The Rose collection is Scandinavian snowflake chic, with a choice of bright but balanced colour combinations and a real sense of design. Feminine without being girly, they feel viable and authentic rather than blatantly and unimaginatively created to appeal to women.

In terms of fabrics and construction, both products simply scream quality. Super fine 100% Merino wool with 4-way stretch makes for a beautifully soft, breathable, stink-free, quick drying and exceptionally warm baselayer that looks as good with jeans and boots as it performs on the mountain.

From Santa Claus to the iconic Ice Hotel, nobody does winter better than the Scandinavians so if you're looking for a high performing baselayer combination with style then get the Rose collection on your Christmas list quick snappy.
