Lightweight and comfortable.
A little basic in the looks department.

Smith's Mission is an in-mold design helmet weighing in at a relatively light 450g for a size M. Available in MIPS and non-MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) variants at a price of £129 or £99 respectively, it isn't the cheapest on the market but won't break the bank either.

Fit is great, we were pleased to find that it ran true to size so there were no nasty surprises when we first tried it on. Adjustments can be made with a dial at the back allowing for the helmet to be cinched in close to the head or loosened off to accommodate a beanie on the colder mornings.

A total of 14 vents channel air through the helmet to keep you cool, and those on the top are closable via a (rather stiff) sliding tab for brisk days. The Snapfit SL2 earpads are removable for easy cleaning and are snug and comfortable on the ears - no complaints when the wind starts to howl on the chairlifts.

The mission is available in a range of six colours, from the conventional black and grey through to funkier bright red and lime green should you wish to make a statement on the slopes. We tested the green (or 'Matte Flash') model and liked the pop of colour, plus the fact that it makes us easily recognisable amongst the flood of other skiers.

Overall, maybe not the most out there in terms of style, but a good all-round performer offering a range of features and a lightweight, comfortable fit.
