If you feel the cold or are planning on spending time in a particularly frigid environment this winter the Haglofs Skra is well worth checking out.

This great looking fully insulated jacket has a two-layer Gore-tex shell combined with recycled 120 g/m2 hollow fibre insulation (80g/m2 on sleeves and hood) and it’s a joy to slip into on a cold day.

A small point maybe, but one of my favourite aspects of the Skra was the high and super-snug stand-alone collar – one of the best and most comfortable I’ve used. Once you get this and the helmet-compatible hood working together you feel totally insulated from the icy outside world.

Externally the Skra has two zipped handwarmer pockets, a zipped chest pocket and a zipped lift pass pocket on the bottom of the left sleeve, along with pit zips (all zips are water resistant incidentally) plus a good-sized internal zipped pocket, so there’s plenty of storage space if you don’t want to carry a pack.

You also get a detachable powder skirt with belt loop attachments, single hand adjustable hem and Velcro adjustable cuffs, and the ‘gale blue’ model we tested looks lovely, although there are darker colour options if you prefer not to stand out in the crowd.
