Pit zip openings could have been bigger

The tailored cut of the Courbe works fantastically well, with the lightly padded front panel and contrast detailing on the arms creating an appealing, sophisticated look, and the hood is removable for extra versatility.

On the slopes the Courbe not only looks great but also performs well, thanks to 20k ratings for both waterproofing and breathability - a rare thing to see on piste orientated ski clothing which doesn't usually go through the same rigmaroles as its backcountry brethren.

A light layer of top-quality 3M Thinsulate synthetic insulation takes care of warmth very well indeed and the thickness of insulation is mapped to provide warmth where you need it and not where you don't - which helps breathability no end.

The main zip is waterproof and the other zips on the jacket are cleverly hidden into the fabric, with slimline toggles completing the slick look. Although style is high on the agenda, functionality is still good with easy to use zip toggles, two reasonably sized hand warmer pockets, a lower sleeve lift pass pocket and two internal pockets to stash all your kit in. You'll also find mesh lined pit zip vents under the arms, granted these are dainty and small but they're effective at dumping excess heat nonetheless. With the hood raised the collar comes up high for great protection and the fleece lining keeps your neck and chin warm and pleasantly comfortable. The single two-way rear adjuster cinches the hood down over the head and the hood is helmet compatible at a push. For further protection against the elements there's a hem adjuster and the vital snowskirt with chunky silicone gripper insert to keep everything firmly in place and the snow out.

A slight dropped hem provides a great balance between looks and snow protection and neat Velcro adjusters on the cuffs complete the offering from this subtly stylish ski jacket with high end performance making it a great bet for the demanding resort skier.
