Dynastar has taken a big leap by retiring its successful Cham and Powertrack lines and replacing them with the new Legend series for the coming 2018 season.
There's at least plenty of choice, with the Legends also available in widths of 75mm, 80, 88, 96 and 106, plus there's also a Legend Pro with a 90mm waist.
The difference isn't just in the measurements, as Dynastar has blended different materials for each particular incarnation.
The X84 is built with a paulownia wood core and fibreglass sandwich construction, married to a full sidewall. The emphasis on choice continues with the skis available in five lengths from 156-184cm.
There's rocker in the tip and tail for that all important float when you venture away from the pistes, but the Legend series has Dynastar's Powerdrive technology that is derived from the French company's front-side range.
Despite that, the X84 aren't full-on chargers and certainly have an upper (high) speed limit on-piste before their lightweight construction begins to tell.
But the majority of the time they provide a stable and fun ride, equally happy to be flicked through short turns when put on edge or bounding through choppy or soft snow away from the piste boundaries.
The Legend X84s are fine performers in the all-mountain class, yet are forgiving enough for a wide range of ability levels to have fun with them.
