The Rossignol Unique 8 is super-lightweight thanks to its Ultralight air core, which reduces weight by 20%, whilst a small rocker in the tip aids turn initiation and carving, and the shape aids with carrying (on the principle that some ladies don't like carrying skis - but who does?).

Our reviewer found the 8 more gutsy than its smaller sister the Unique 6 but still didn't find the responsiveness she was after, hence the relatively low scores.

That said she added: 'These skis are easy to turn and I'm sure ladies who like a lighter, easy piste ski will enjoy them. I just found them a bit lacking and maybe too light/easy.

'They were responsive but seemed to lack guts and I just didn't trust them when fully cranked over. However, despite my slightly scathing scores, I do think the Unique 8 is a good ski and would be ideal for aspiring intermediate/advanced skiers.'
