GoPro performance for eBay price!
Reliance on glare-vulnerable touchscreen for control

YI has stormed into the action camera market with a real rival to Go Pro's market leading Hero4 Black, yet at half the price!

You'll need some of the spare change to buy non-included essentials like memory cards and mounts - and the waterproof housing (£20), which in our line of fun is essential. Though the camera does come with a standard screw-in tripod mount on the bottom.

Inside the YI's little black casing (also available in white and pink!) is the latest generation Ambarella A9SE75 chip, as well as Sony's IMX377 image sensor, which means that you can shoot up to 120 minutes of continuous 4K/30fps video at 60 Mbps - a best in class. The stand-by battery life is an impressive eight hours.

The YI's 12MP stills are pretty decent too, thanks to the YI's 7 layers of all-glass lenses and large F2.8 aperture.

As there is only one button for powering the YI on and off, almost all functionality is accessed via the 16:9 ratio, 2.19in LCD Gorilla Glass Retina touchscreen with a 330ppi high-resolution display on the back of the camera.

Viewable from a 160 degree angle, and easily operated with the tips of your fingers, the only quibble we have is that the screen is not so easy to view in bright sunlight.

Thankfully one of the YI's biggest assets is its connectivity - built-in wifi and an excellent full-functioned app mean that you can operate the camera from your smartphone, with the app offering basic editing and filtering capabilities as well as music options.

All this in a tiny package which weighs just 95g. Without doubt, at this price the 4K Action Camera is a game changer.
