Well-thought out design will appeal to the backcountry brigade

Black Diamond has built the Mission pants for riders who focus on heading off-piste, which is evident from features such as the transceiver pocket on the right thigh.

At first appearance this is just a large zipped pocket to match its neighbour on the left, but check the interior and you'll find an inner pocket made of protective Poron XRD Impact Foam, along with an integrated harness for low profile; this allows for quick access to your transceiver as well as being more comfortable than carrying your transceiver on your chest in the classic fashion.

In addition, you get a built-in RECCO responder and boot-access zippers for adjusting your buckles after schlepping up the hill (or zooming down).

The Missions are pretty bomb proof, being made of waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex 3L fabric which has a tough 70 denier nylon plain-weave finish with a brushed backing and DWR finish.

The fit is relaxed and stylish, and other features include an integrated, removable belt with the option of belt loops on the waist if you prefer to use your own belt, a small rear zipped pocket, venting zips on the outside of each thigh, articulated knees, burly instep protectors and internal snow gaiters.

All of which adds up to pretty much everything you need in a pair of ski pants for backcountry adventures.
