We review the insulated, four-way stretch, soft-touch and stylish Camber Jacket 2.0 from Eider
eider camber 1
Overall Score
Clever hood adjustment and peak for use with or without helmet

Aimed at resort skiers who prefer sticking to the groomers and their jackets insulated, the Eider Camber 2.0 builds on the already well-established pedigree of last year's first iteration.

Comfort is excellent from the off, with the Camber combining several different materials to maximise stretchy freedom of movement, durability with tough shoulder and arm panels for carrying skis, boards and bags, as well as high-performance water-repellence and breathability.

Indeed, you'd be hard-pushed to beat the claimed 20,000mm waterproofing and 20,000 MVP breathability from Eider's three-layer DWR treated fabric. When new, dirt, grease and sweat-free, we had no complaints about its weather protection.

Make no mistake though - this is a warm jacket with shiver-free chairlifts courtesy of Eider's own polyester E-Loft insulation, which traps warmth in while a water repellent treatment helps keep rain out while still allowing sweat moisture to escape. Pit zips go the extra mile when you really need to let some steam out.

There are plenty of pockets too, with one horizontal and one vertical chest pocket - the zipped-up top of the latter protected by innovative use of a magnetic flap. Both side pockets are slanted for easy access and fleece-lined for comfort. On the inside, there is one big mesh goggle pocket complete with a tethered wipe, as well as a capacious zip-accessed mesh pocket with headphone cable routing and a retention strap to stop your phone moving around.

Other features include a meshed flexible strip up the centre of the back for increased breathability and freedom of movement, a ski pass pocket on the upper arm, broad wrist adjusters, elasticated inner cuffs, a stashable snow skirt with gel grippers, removable hood and an adjustable hem.

The triumph for us was the versatile hood, which has three-point tightening that forms a snug-fitting hood with a peak, which can equally effectively be cinched around a helmet.

All this and you get a lifetime manufacturing flaw warrantee.
