TL;DR Review
With a relaxed fit, and plenty of features, this insulated ski jacket offers warmth and performance all wrapped up in one relatively inexpensive package.
Brand & Background
Swedish outerwear brand Montec has built a massive fanbase with its clean design, reasonable prices, and thoughtful mountain functionality. You see their brand-name everywhere these days.
The new Morpheus Women’s Ski Jacket, debuting in the 25/26 line-up, is lighter and more flexible than previous iterations, with a stronger focus on recycled materials and responsible sourcing. It’s designed to be a one-jacket solution for lift-access skiing: rugged enough for off-piste storm days, and stylish enough for slushy resort laps.
Who is the Montec Morpheus Ski Jacket For?
This is a true all-mountain model for skiers who spend time both on and off piste. Its relaxed fit and well-judged insulation make it adaptable for layering, while its freeride-inspired styling keeps things casual and comfortable.
Montec Morpheus Ski Jacket Materials & Performance
Built around Montec’s Shield-Tec 20K 2-way stretch ripstop shell, the Morpheus delivers impressive protection (20,000 mm waterproofing / 20,000 g/m² breathability) and reliable comfort. Fully taped seams lock out moisture, and their own Comfortemp recycled insulation adds just enough warmth for mixed conditions.
The HeiQ EcoDry DWR coating is free from harmful PFAS chemicals, and the entire jacket uses materials that meet the stringent, independently verified Bluesign standard. The insulation is made from 95 percent recycled polyester, and the outer includes fabric recycled from PET plastics.
Montec Morpheus Ski Jacket Style, Fit & Features
The relaxed fit feels generous and easy to move in — our tester wore a medium and appreciated the space for layers without feeling bulky. The 2-way stretch shell keeps it supple and non-restrictive. Full-opening underarm vents with no mesh allow for maximum airflow and access to interior pockets. The helmet-compatible Storm Guard hood is easily tightened down for non-helmet use. The long, soft wrist gaiters with wide thumb holes that don’t pinch under gloves were particularly confortable.
Other features include an elasticated snow skirt, a lift-pass pocket, a media pocket, power-mesh inner pockets, and an easily cinched drawstring hem
The only frustration? The exterior hand pockets open from the outside in — hip toward belly button — which feels counterintuitive when you’re used to anchoring from the central zip and pulling outward. It’s a small detail, but noticeable when you’re wearing gloves or moving quickly.
Tester’s Verdict
"I loved the full-length underarm vents, which open completely for maximum airflow and pocket access — perfect for sunny Spring sessions! The medium fit offered plenty of movement and layering room, while the large hood and funnel neck would provide brilliant storm-day protection without restricting vision or comfort. For an insulated jacket, it felt pretty light it has an impressive waterproof shell that held up in heavy snow.
The one design miss, for me, was those waist pockets that zip inward — not a dealbreaker, but they do take some getting used to. Once that muscle memory kicks in, the Morpheus quickly redeemed itself with its comfort, adjustability, and weather performance. And at £218, it’s an easy jacket to recommend."
