The Head Great Joy is an all mountain ski that's set up for the backcountry and off-piste terrain, whilst keeping the ability to make good turns on groomed slopes too. During our 2014 test in Austria, we found that they enjoyed being on all parts of the mountain.

Targeted at advanced female skiers, the Head Great Joy really seem to live up to their name.

For anyone looking to get off the groomed slopes and into the powder, maybe for the first time, then these skis would be a perfect fit.

'This is a great pair of skis,' said our tester. 'A little cumbersome in short turns, but when you open up they don't let you down.

'If you push this ski it will push you back...hard. Absolutely rip in a longer carve turn and they just seem to smash through anything.'

With the 98mm under the boot width, they could fit into a freeride category easily, but their top performance on groomed slopes makes them a true all mountain ski - and a good one at that.

Would suit an instructor who likes to get away from it all after work.
