The Nordica El Capo is a tough, strong ski designed for expert riders who like powerful turns off-piste and in powder snow. On test it also handled groomed slopes well, making it a good all round ski, despite its freeride pedigree.

The freeride category has developed into one of the most important on the market and there are some fantastic skis available that hit the mark whether you're skiing on or off-piste.

The Nordica El Capo is targeted towards the upper end of the category ability-wise and demands a strong and powerful skier to get the most from them.

In the powder they perform well, especially for big, fast turns on open faces. They're a little bit harder to handle in tight spots and in the trees, as they seem to keep on charging at a high pace.

One of our testers commented: 'They can be hard to handle, but if you enjoy travelling fast through the powder they're great. On the groomed stuff, they feel really smooth and the edge grip is excellent, although sometimes they feel a little damp and unresponsive.'

Conclusion - would suit a larger, more powerful expert skier who would really benefit from the strength of these skis.
