The Salomon X-Drive 8.8 is a versatile all-mountain ski that would suit a strong skier and possibly an instructor who's looking to spend most of the time on groomed slopes or within the ski area boundary, but likes to duck and dive into the deep stuff once in a while. We reviewed it during our 2014 on snow ski test.

This brand new model from Salomon is aimed at the advanced to expert skier looking to enjoy mostly groomed terrain whilst attacking the lumps, bumps and humps away from the corduroy surface.

One of our testers commented: 'It feels like a strong all-round ski and would suit an instructor looking for a versatile working tool although they were a little stiff in the moguls.'

Overall, the feeling was that they're solid on-piste whilst offering enough flexibility to handle other conditions when required.

'They scored consistently well across the board,' said another tester.
