This thing is FAST! It was the first West board that our team had tested and we were all very impressed.

West claim that they have an NHS base, but unlike the NHS we know this base is super fast which doesn't want to slow down for anything - snow voles had better stay clear!

It is a long, wide, stiff and powerful slayer of a stick that holds an edge superbly thanks to it's 2mm premium steel edges. Long arced carving is made easy.

The Captain Achab powers through anything from chopped up crud, crust, to gobbling up ice cookies, without so much as a vibration under foot. Two carbon crosses on the nose and tail provide that extra torsion and stability. It is also surprisingly agile considering it's size.

This board is set back by 20mm and so is at home in the powder fields. The Captain Achab only come in one size (163) and so is ideal for charging around in deep powder.

Not really for jibbing or park laps, it does have decent pop and good on the kickers.

Due to it's size and stiffness we wouldn't recommend this for beginners or intermediate level snowboarders, but it is one hell of a board to have in your quiver if you are a dog-eared mountain slayer.
