The eye-watering price tag

KJUS' Duana jacket is one for those who like to inject a bit if luxury and impeccable quality into their ski gear. Everything from the silky-smooth lining to the water-repellent YKK zips screams 'I'm reassuringly expensive'.

With a generous filling of duck down and synthetic insulation the Duana provides maximum warmth, no need for a midlayer here. The fabric offers 20k/20k waterproofing and breathability, so you'll stay protected no matter what the elements throw at you and shouldn't overheat too much under all that insulation. Added protection comes from water resistant zips, a detachable snow skirt and an extra high fleece lined collar to keep your face toasty in a snow storm.

The hood is minimalist and fits the head fairly well but isn't helmet compatible. If you prefer to ski without, it detaches with a stylish 'press button system' and the fastenings are hidden when the hood is removed to maintain the clean lines of the jacket.

Cuff size is adjustable with a zip down the bottom part of the sleeve making it easy to fit gloves underneath, and the gaiters are a good size. There's also a hidden pass pocket in the left sleeve which took us a while to find under the zip for the adjustable cuff. There are enough further pockets for your average skier - two zipped outside front pockets, one inside zipped pocket and two mesh dump pockets, one with a detachable goggle sleeve.

Cut is flattering if a little snug as can be expected from an ostensibly piste focused insulated ski jacket. Hem length is stylishly short but that won't suit those who prefer charging hard all day to sitting on the slope side terrace drinking cappuccino's. The Duana is available in three different colourways - black, white-black and frozen pink-black. We tested the white-black version, which looks great when it's new, but as with any white ski jacket, won't stay pristine for long out on the slopes.

Overall a stylish ski jacket that offers great protection for piste skiing and relaxing around resort in comfort. If you're willing to splash the cash and aren't planning on heading out into the wilderness in a blizzard, this could be for you.
