Chamonix based Black Crows build skis that seem to suit the freeride purists and the Corvus doesn't disappoint. The traditional camber, stiff flex and progressive tip rocker (just enough, no more), makes them feel like full-on Alpine chargers that would feel happy on a World Cup downhill course - except they can't help but sniff out the deep stuff.

Luckily we had plenty of that during our ski test during early March in Austria - and we took full advantage. The 109mm underfoot feels like the perfect width for ripping it up through the pow whilst, somewhat surprisingly, carving it up nicely on the (admittedly soft) groomed piste. We struggle only in finding any faults with the Corvus - everything else seems so easy, especially considering they're skis with so much high-end performance.

To get the most out of them, you need to enjoy skiing all kinds of terrain at higher speeds and preferably have a solid, fine-tuned technical skill set. Either that or you're strong enough to power through everything and don't need to worry too much about how you do it. Still, it can suit a lighter skier on their game and gives back so much power and response, they are true dream in all conditions - perhaps a mogul zip line aside.

For skis with this much high end performance, they're just so easy to ride. Solid yet playful, light yet powerful - poptastic skis that must have been designed after a good night out. Simple conclusion, just super fun and a great looking skis - a true skiers ski.
