Slovenia is proof that big is not always better. The four largest ski resorts mostly have no more than 10 ski lifts, while there are several medium-sized ski resorts with 2-10 ski lifts, and some smaller ski resorts with a maximum of two ski lifts. The country's 12 mountain centres are mostly active all year round, so they also offer sports activities outside the winter season. Of the 230km of pistes in Slovenia, 85km are blue, 114km red and 27km black - and you can ski almost all of them on the same lift pass, the Ski Pass Slovenia.

Just 25km from the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, and idyllically located in the heart of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Krvavec is also the closest ski resort to an international airport in Europe (Jože Pučnik Airport is 8 km away). Access to the ski resort is possible by circular cable car or by car. And it's one of the larger resorts, having 13 lifts, serving a total of 27 pistes amounting to a ski area total of 30km.

In recent years, the main ski resorts in Slovenia have been transformed into year-round tourist destinations. These mountain centres, like Krvavec, offer a wide range of activities and experiences to suit all tastes, whatever the season. In the winter that includes night sledding, off the Tiha Dolina chairlift, which operates for sledders between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm - a cool experience on an illuminated track with a view of the illuminated valley below.

Krvavec - Ski Map & Pistes:

This ski centre with a stunning view of the Ljubljana Basin provides excellent opportunities to go skiing in natural and compact snow. It offers a good mix of ski slopes with various levels of difficulty, including a trio of black runs, a good quota of reds and fewer blue runs than many Slovenian resorts. It promises 100 ski days per year are guaranteed.

The slopes are dynamic, suitable for recreational and professional skiers as well as for beginners. The ski centre is family-friendly, there’s a ski school, a children’s ski course, and a kindergarten. there's also a snow park with features for beginners and more experienced freestylers.

Krvavec - Off-Piste, Backcountry & Ski Touring:

Kravavec is a good choice for more advanced skiers, with a decent freeride reputation thanks to a couple of freeride itineraries. It's also a good jumping-off point for ski touring, as it offers beautiful tracks and exceptional views of the mountain peaks. Ski touring is available every day from 8am to 4pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm to 7pm on the specially-designated Ski Alp trail.

Krvavec - Restaurants, Bars & The Town:

Hotels and boarding houses located directly at the ski slopes will offer you a true skiing experience, including the Hotel Krvavec, the highest hotel in Slovenia, which won best ski boutique hotel in Slovenia, in the World Ski Awards! Its outdoor terrace is a great place to unwind with a bit of après, and its Plaza Bar is a great venue for on-mountain cuisine.

All those who wish to experience the vibrant atmosphere of cities after skiing can find accommodation in nearby towns and cities: the capital Ljubljana (just a 30-min bus ride away), and nearby Kranj and Bled.

Numerous hotels and boarding houses in the valley, at the foot of the ski centre, also provide a pleasant atmosphere and good food and accommodation.

Krvavec - Ski Hire:

Ski equipment rental and servicing is available at the resort's own Jecom outlet.

Krvavec - Ski School:

The children's playground is ideal for youngsters making their first turns. Krvavec Intersport Snow Sports School is the only official ski school on the Krvavec ski slope, and caters to both children and adults.
