Skiing hits differently in Norway – even if you don’t have to do the Viking row to get there! You may not get the giant mountains and endless runs of the Alps, but Norway has its own brand of dramatic scenery, one where stunning fjord coastlines meet lofty peaks and an otherworldly snow-covered inland wilderness stretches as far as the eye can see.
As the birthplace of skiing, Norway has a deep heritage in the sport, with wonderful opportunities to enjoy downhill skiing, cross country and exploring deep off-piste powder. Being so far north you can rely on exceptional snow conditions, and from uncrowded well-groomed slopes and family-friendly resorts to more challenging backcountry trails, there's something to suit every level of skier.
The region also lies directly beneath the Aurora Borealis belt, so if conditions are right, you may catch a glimpse of the magical Northern Lights dancing overhead.
New for Winter 2026-27
UK tour operator Inghams is offering an extended holiday season on ski trips to Norway, running from 19th December to 11th April, plus short breaks with guests able to travel on any day of the week and book flexible stays. And if you fancy adding a few days in a Norwegian city to experience the special Scandinavian urban culture and lifestyle, that’s possible, too, with new city extensions in Oslo or Bergen.
New, enhanced travel options this season include direct flights to Oslo from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham, and direct flights to Bergen from Gatwick and Manchester.
Moreover, learn to ski packages are available in all Inghams’ Norwegian ski resorts. These offer a six-day lift pass, equipment rental and four or five days of tuition.
