Elan’s new Voyager is the world’s first folding all mountain ski that could become a game changer.

If the initial launch is anything to go by the construction is impeccable allowing the Voyager to be folded and unfolded in seconds. The impressive engineering feat is achieved by a series of clever hinges and locking mechanisms that Elan calls Connect Technology and it looks like the Voyager doesn’t lose any of the structural rigidity of a conventional ski.

The Voyager is aimed at ‘….the breed of urban ski enthusiast juggling a busy work schedule with travel, family and fitness’ but equally we can see it being useful for lugging your kit from the UK to the Alps or further afield, saving money on ski luggage charges.

Coming in a range of sizes from 160cm to 172cm the Voyager features Elan’s lauded Amphibio tech which goes so well on their flagship all mountain skis, the Ripstick and Wingman.

Dropping at £1.349 the package includes Voyager skis, bindings, poles and custom bag. The Voyager one pair ski bag is the world’s most compact ski bag, measuring just 100cm X 26cm X 16cm, and is made specifically to transport and travel with Elan’s Voyager skis.

It’s yet to be seen how the mechanism holds up against the rigours of daily skiing but the product certainly looks promising.
