TL;DR Review

If you like retro styling but need all mountain performance then you’re going to love this jacket.

With Campri-esque neon graphics and colour pops complimented by faded-out logos, the classic 90s styling of this jacket makes us grin from ear to ear. And if the outside of the Afterparty jacket makes you smile, the inside will make you laugh out loud (in a good way). OOSC’s signature shocking pink and blue lightning flash makes an appearance, adding to the Afterparty’s happy-go-lucky vibe. Although there’s a clear retro look going on, the performance and technologies bring this jacket bang up to date.

First up, we love the magnetic poppers on the storm flaps which hold perfectly in place. The only downside is we can't stop playing with them, they're like fidget toys for your ski jacket. Any exposed zips benefit from YKK Aquaguard coatings, helping keep moisture at bay.

Talking of moisture, the Afterparty jacket manages this excellently, with a high breathability rating and handy mesh-lined pit vents. Of course, the material is fully waterproof too, and with taped seams, this is a jacket that can weather the worst storms the mountains can throw at you. With adjustment at the wrists, hem, and hood, you can also batten down the hatches against icy winds.

The hood provides excellent coverage with a peak that extends far from the face to fend off snow and rain. The fleece-backed chin lining keeps your face well-protected and comfortable. The hem of the jacket is adjustable, by pulling on the cords either at the hem or from inside the hand pockets, giving options for the look and fit. We love the Lycra wrist gaiters complete with thumb loops, helping maintain coverage and adding a touch of warmth. With everything cinched in tightly, you feel you can go to battle with the elements wearing the Afterparty jacket.

Plentiful pockets allow for easy storage of bits and bobs. The two hand pockets have zips to keep stuff secure, and the two cargo pockets over the top of the hand pockets are big enough to stash larger items. There's a small lift pass pocket on the left-hand sleeve and a diddy little chest pocket on the left breast.

Inside the jacket, you will find the usual mesh dump pocket for gloves and goggles. There's also a clip-on microfiber cloth included for cleaning your goggles. It's handy little additions like these that elevate a ski jacket. The internal chest pocket has a media pass-through sleeve for your headphones in case you’re partial to listening to tunes on the slopes.

The powder skirt is also removable, allowing you to extend the use of the Afterparty jacket beyond the ski season.

As with all OOSC ski clothing we've tested, the outer material of the Afterparty jacket is soft and supple and OOSC have optimised the fit for skiing. It’s just slightly on the relaxed side, there's articulation in the jacket where you need it most and plenty of room for layering. Build quality is top-end for this price point. Perhaps a lesson for some of the high-end brands - you can produce great ski clothing without charging the earth.
