Home to two distinct resorts, Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort, the skiing experience is just the start of the what this historic old silver mining town has to offer. Here are ten great reasons why you need to visit Park City this winter:
It’s easy to get to
Flying to the US may take a bit longer than jetting off to the Alps, but once you’ve landed, the transfer from Salt Lake City International to resort more than makes up for the flying time. It’s just a speedy 35-minute transfer that’s as quick as taking a tube ride in London. And you can get direct flights to Salt Lake City from Amsterdam and Paris.
Ski trees, powder and beyond
Whether you want to ski groomed-to-perfection runs or skim through the trees, with more than 9,300 skiable acres between the two resorts, Park City’s got you covered. Off the slopes, take a dog sled ride, zoom over the terrain on a snowmobile, or crunch the powder on a serene snowshoe hike.
It’s perfect for families
A multi-million-dollar investment in the resorts for 2018/19. will take Park City to the top of the tree as the leading family ski and snowboard experience, the top Ski and Snowboard School in the state and as the definitive choice for signature mountain-top dining.
New at Park City Mountain, the High Meadow Family Fun Zone will be a dedicated learning area for beginners, children, and families, and a new Candy Cabin will offer guests a sweet treat during a rest break.
Over in Deer Valley Resort, the Homestake chairlift is getting replaced by a new, detachable, high-speed quad chairlift, which will cut ride time in half and provides easy access from the Silver Lake Village to the top of Bald Eagle Mountain.
Free public buses
Getting around town is easy! Hop on the free bio-diesel and electric buses that serve all the key spots in Park City. While you’re at it, catch up with friends online using the free on-board wi-fi installed in selected busses.
History is all around you
Park City began as a silver mining town, fell on hard times as a ghost town, and has successfully re-invented itself as an authentic ski town that has grown into an exciting year-round destination. Many old buildings have been wonderfully preserved, including mine workings on mountain. Hit the slopes with a guide and you can ski over history with a free tour!
The après-ski begins on the slopes!
The art of craft beers and spirits is alive and sipping in Park City. Local brewers include Wasatch Brewery, Alpine Distilling, Park City Brewery, and High West Distillery; so get ready to enjoy a huge range of top quality, local produced thirst-quenchers all over the town.
Shop, Shop, Shop
No holiday is complete unless you have a great selection of shops to explore. Park City’s historic Main Street is lined with quaint shops and art galleries full of tempting local treasures. And for those looking for a brand name bargain, Park City's Tanger Outlet mall is a must-shop spot.
Ride the Olympic wonders
During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Utah Olympic Park in Park City hosted bobsled, skeleton, luge and Nordic ski jumping events. Now it’s your turn as you get to experience the thrill of riding down the bobsled track in a four-person sled with a professional driver.
With Park City’s almost endless selection of lodging possibilities, including slope-side condos, private homes, hotels and more, your winter holiday dreams can become a reality. Unwind in a private hot tub on a deck surrounded by sweeping views; enjoy drinks and conversation by a large fireplace made with native stone; ski or snowboard to and from your back door.
