The Courmayeur event was Hamm's first on the Freeride World Tour (FWT).

He qualified for the FWT 2014 via the Freeride World Tour Qualifier (FWQ) system. In 2011, he took part in the FWQ in Morgin then did several events in 2012. In 2013 he came in the top three and qualified for the Freeride World Tour 2014.

Sascha said: "I am glad that I got to take my run before the skiers. The snow conditions were amazing! I had a blast doing rocks, and riding fluffy snow. I ended up taking a completely different line than I had planned, and everything went well until a light slam at the finish line. At the next event I will concentrate more on the finish line."
