Skiers across the Alps awoke to near perfect pistes and bluebird skies this morning after heavy snowfalls this week. The snow stopped falling late on Thurday night in many Swiss and Austrian resorts, where untracked powder was the order of the day. Temperatures also rose from minus 18C on Thursday, to just below zero making for some superb skiing.
In France, La Plagne, Morzine and Val Thorens benefitted from the best of the latest falls, although the snow was not as widespread as in Switzerland and Austria. In Italy, where the season has been slow to get under way, (some resorts have not had snow since mid December) there was new snow in Cortina, Livignio and Cervinia.
Most resorts in Colorado and California in the US were reporting good on-piste conditions, fresh powder off-piste and sunshine. There was new snow for the east coast too.
British Columbia and Alberta also received moderate snow falls this week. More snow is forecast for the coming seven days.
