The Energy Accumulator Evo base layer set from X Bionic marries compression technology with body temperature regulation to produce a base layer meant to keep you skiing for longer.

Having reviewed X Bionic gear in the past we weren't surprised by the wacky look of the Energy Accumulator Evo base layers. This unique look is a by-product of the different zones of channelling and knits that X Bionic engineer in to their clothing.

A barrage of acronyms and techno jargon comes as standard in an attempt to try and explain all the technology, but cut through this and you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that the net result is some of the best gear for its intended purpose that money can buy.

For us, the headline feature of the Energy Accumulator Evo is the way it manages to keep your body at a steady temperature, whether skinning up a track or sitting on an exposed chairlift in the biting cold.

Without getting too geeky, the Energy Accumulator works hard in targeted areas to either retain warmth or channel sweat away, but it isn't quite as simple as that. It also leaves a thin film of sweat behind to cool the skin. Almost unbelievably this works fantastically well and you rarely notice too much sweat building up in any one part of your torso or legs.

X Bionic have even gone to the lengths of adding extra channels at the knees to protect you from the cold, even when the knee is bent, it's this kind of attention to detail that elevates them above the competition.

Aside from the excellent temperature regulation qualities the Energy Accumulator Evo also feature a high level of compression which provides increased performance, endurance and recovery during sports.

In conclusion, there's a reason why these base layers are worn exclusively by the Italian, Swiss and Russian national ski teams to name but a few, and it's because, for out-and-out performance they could well be the best winter sports base layers out there.
