The next few days are looking snowy in Switzerland. Saas Fee (webcam) saw heavy snowfall on Friday, with 100cm of fresh on top of 3m of snow on the upper slopes and 1m on the lower pistes. This is the place to go for powder! There’s more snow expected tomorrow and Wednesday as well. There’s also 25cm of fresh snow at Klosters, and more is expected here over the next few days too (webcam).
Austrian resorts have also had snow over the weekend. Kitzbuhel has had 25cm of fresh snow (webcam), with another 8cm expected today, and the snowy weather due to continue this week.
Some French resorts had snow yesterday. Alpe d’Huez (webcam) had 10cm of fresh snow and so did Avoriaz. Snow is forecast in France early this week, with Tuesday and Wednesday looking particularly good for snowfall.
Andorra also had fresh snow this weekend – there was 50cm of fresh at Soldeu, and another 15cm is expected on Wednesday (webcam)
Last week saw heavy snow at many Canadian resorts, though the weekend was drier. A few centimetres fell at Big White (webcam) and Fernie (webcam) on Friday. The outlook for the beginning of the week is for light snow in most places.
The Colorado resorts in the USA had impressive snowfalls late last week. In Vail (webcam), 25cm fell on Wednesday and a further 15cm on Thursday. In Breckenridge there was 30cm over two days (webcam). There wasn’t a great deal of snow over the weekend, however, and there’s not much more forecast over the next couple of days.
Snow report, 4 February
With fresh snow forecast across the Alps, and heavy snowfalls last week in the US and Canada, it’s a great time to grab your skis and get out there to enjoy the powder.
