The Volkl RTM 77 is a mid-ranged all mountain ski aimed at recreational to advanced skiers who ski mainly on groomed slopes but want to occasionally explore beyond them. We tested them out during our 2014 on snow sessions in Kuhtai, Austria.

If you’re a good, solid, advanced skier who enjoys staying on the trails 80 percent of the time but occasionally fancies a foray into more variable terrain then this ski is a perfect set up.

Super stable and responsive on groomed slopes and in the bumps, it holds an excellent edge grip in both long and short radius turns, and the full tip rocker makes turn initiation smooth and easy.

It would fit a huge number of recreational holiday skiers, and if you like carving and want to get better, don’t want to rent every time you ski, then this is the perfect model for you.

Downsides? Obviously the RTM 77 is limited if you want to ski deep powder at high speeds, but as a front-side all mountain weapon for red run skiers it is right up there with the best.
