We put the Patagonia Primo ski jacket to the test. If you like your jacket to have a loose fit and be as tough as old boots you’ll love the Primo.

Nice loose fit, great build quality
Some people may find the fabric a little ‘stiff’

It uses three-layer, recycled nylon Gore-tex which will withstand the harshest of weather and chafing from pack straps, chairlift seats etc.

The hood is helmet compatible and easily adjusted, and we really liked the pocket layout; two handwarmers, one chest with a secure media pocket and cable routing, one forearm, and two interior pockets (one drop in and one zippered stash) – just enough to ensure you can conveniently carry all your essentials if you decide to ski without a pack.

There are pit zips and a neat low profile powder skirt; this, along with the highly articulated and loose, comfortable fit (which is great for layering), makes the Primo ideal for big mountain adventures, and serious riders will want to check it out.
